What you get, and how to read it
An ePub is the standard e-book format — the same kind of file you get from Apple Books or Kobo. The text reflows to fit whatever screen you're on, so it stays readable on a phone without pinching and zooming, and you can change the font size. It is not a PDF.
Opening it takes one step on most devices:
- iPhone, iPad or Mac — tap the file and it opens in Apple Books, which is already installed.
- Android — open it with Google Play Books, or any e-book app you already use.
- Kindle — send it to your device with Amazon's Send to Kindle, which accepts ePub files and converts them for you.
- Windows, Mac or Linux — Calibre and Thorium Reader are both free and open the file directly.
The file is DRM-free. DRM is the copy protection that normally locks an e-book to the shop you bought it from — it's why a Kindle book stays inside the Kindle app. There is none of that here. You download the actual file, keep it, back it up, move it between devices and read it in whichever app you prefer. It keeps working whatever happens to this site.
That's about convenience, not about copyright. The book is still yours to read rather than to republish, so please don't post it publicly, resell it or send it round a mailing list. The full wording is in the Terms & Conditions.
